Well, I decided that I want to fight heavy again. I've been out of it for about 9 or 10 years now, but with my losing weight now, I'm thinking of picking it up again.
I tried to pick up fencing before to try and get some exercise, but due to circumstances at the time, it never stuck.
My first love has always been heavy weapons though, and I figure it could work as a way to motivate me to train and get in better shape.
So... Here's my plan.
I first need to get in a habit of exercising every day. Just for short periods at first, because I am the ultimate desk jockey right now. Between work and home, I'm planted in some kind of chair almost all of my waking hours. My back is paying for it too. I do a couple of stretches a few times a day just to keep my back from aching all the time.
Next I need to devise a method to do pellwork in an apartment where I can't hang anything. I've got some space, but whatever I come up with needs to be as unobtrusive as possible since I have a roommate. I also hesitate to train outside with a stick, because I live in a condominium and I don't want any of the residents complaining about me to the Association.
Thirdly I need to rework my armor. I've gotten better at figuring things out on my own, so while I am certainly not an expert armorer, I'm sure I know what fits me and what doesn't when I put it on. I always went by what my trainer told me, and just accepted that I would have to get used to my gear being uncomfortable and unwieldy. I would like to make all new stuff, but my finances won't allow that wholesale, so I'll rework what I've got and make new pieces as I can afford materials. I understand that armor will never be as comfortable as my clothes, but I also will no longer accept that it has to be something clunky, awkward, and restricting.
Well that's the basics. Details will be posted later as I figure them out.
